Be predictable

This goes against the common belief that you need to “spice up life” in order to keep the romance exciting. Although going to a new disco or giving a cute new gift can be surprising and fun, it is the things which are consistent and steady that will make relationships work. We will be able to build trust in and improve your relationship by being reliable every day and every minute.

Make sure your actions match your words

Always ensure that your actions match your words. Actions speak louder than words and so if you say you are wide awake when you are actually tired, your partner will be easily able to see that you are not telling the truth. So your partner is not going to be able to trust you. You will start building trust in your relationships when your actions match your words.

Believe in your partner

You need to believe in your partner’s competency. If you don’t you won’t trust the relationship that you need. The truth will never damage when you communicate lovingly. You will deviate from building trust in the relationship if you don’t believe in the competency of your partner in anything or something.

Don’t keep secrets from your partner

Secrets deviate from trust and tend to be damaging rather than improving your relationship. Honesty and openness should be the main foundations upon which you build your relationship. Assume that your partner will come to know of everything someday or the other. Secrets require extra effort and energy from you. Instead of wasting this energy use it to build and improve your relationship.

Make your partner aware of your needs

Your partner should not be kept guessing about your needs. Make them aware. So long as you are not selfish, it is fine to be self-centred. Indeed, if you are reluctant to assert your needs, you may smother your partner by going overboard in the opposite direction.

Be brave enough to say no

Although it is a good thing for your partner to voice their needs, you don’t need to accept and agree to everything they say. It will be hard for your partner to give any respect to you if you do so. It actually builds trust in a relationship if you randomly and genuinely refuse to subjugate yourself to your partner’s needs.

Always keep looking for growth  

You need to dig the dirt when it comes to planting a sapling. In improving relationships, digging of such dirt most of the times cause pain. But, with this pain, we prepare ourselves for growth in the future. You should not be afraid of questions, crisis or turmoil. Embrace the difficulties as these go on to become the fertilizers for change and growth.

At times it will be painful to work on the aspect of trust in relationships. However, by manoeuvring the pain, you will become a much stronger individual and you and your partner will also strengthen and improve your relationship.
