Do you believe that chemistry in relationships is something that just happens? If so, the truth might give you a surprise. Obviously, you probably can’t create chemistry where it doesn’t exist. However, there’s plenty you can do to light the fire if an initial spark is there.

What Is Relationship Chemistry?
It can be difficult to get an idea of what it is if you’ve never really felt strong chemistry with somebody else. A definition of what most people call chemistry is a sense that the two of you are just meant to be together. You’re both perfectly at ease in each other’s company and have a strong physical attraction for each other. While it might have something to do with looks and pheromones, most of it is to do with the mind. Chemistry in relationships comes from you and your partner having the same beliefs, dreams, and possibly even similar pet peeves and other habits.

How To Develop a Rapport
First of all you need to have a good rapport, before you can build up any chemistry. If you’ve only been out on one or two dates, it may be too early for that rapport to have fully developed. To help your rapport to grow, look for a conversation topic over which you can really bond. However, just make sure it’s something low-stress and pleasant. Although you may find out you both love talking about ways to end famine in the Third World, that sort of topic doesn’t help associate you with pleasure and fun for your partner.

A Good Tip is to Use Humor
As well as being fun, laughter also makes us feel at ease with another person. This certainly helps to increase chemistry in relationships. You don’t have to be a professional comedian to make somebody laugh. Even an attempt at humor in your own style can work. However, to ensure you don’t offend your date right from the start, keep your jokes clean and neutral.

Discover that Adrenaline is Your Friend
Research has shown that people who meet their partner in an exciting situation—whether pleasant or not—tend to find each other more attractive. In fact, they have more relationship chemistry than couples who met under normal circumstances. This is because the mind associates any excitement with the person we’re with at such a time, and mistakes it for physical attraction. You can use this to your advantage by organising a date that will get the adrenaline pumping like a scary movie, or even white-water rafting, or a rollercoaster ride.

Let your Partner Know the Real You
It’s impossible to increase chemistry in relationships unless you are prepared to express yourself to your partner. So make it a point to share your thoughts and feelings about important issues, instead of keeping your opinions to yourself, in hopes of hiding anything your partner might not like about you. Sometimes your date will fall for you hard as a result of just a single off-hand honest comment.

Use the Physical
You may have read that one way to increase chemistry in relationships is to touch your partner on the knee or arm early on the date. You want to take care with that, though. If you get physical too early on, you may just end up by turning off your partner. Instead, begin by just talking about what physical features you each find most attractive in the opposite sex. You can then use the information you gain to your advantage later on in the relationship. It may seem that chemistry in relationships is mysterious and difficult to control, but you can find ways to help it to increase.

If you get off to a good start by establishing a good rapport, throw in a little humor, and experience some adrenaline-pumping excitement, you will watch the chemistry increase.
