Healing A Broken Heart With Hope

Healing a broken heart isn’t something that can happen overnight. Unfortunately, there’s no magic wand you or anyone can wave to make you feel better. But there are a few things you can do to make healing a broken heart a little faster and easier.

Surround yourself with people who have a positive attitude. The people you hang out with have a lot to do with your general level of happiness and your state of mind. This holds true every day of your life, not just when you’re heartbroken over a breakup.

If you spend your time with very intelligent people who have thought-provoking conversations, you’ll tend to use your brain more, too. If you spend time with people who practice bad habits like smoking or drug use, or even eating foods that are unhealthy, you’re more likely to do those things.

So if you spend your time with people who feel like love is only for a chosen few and that all men or women are faithless, you might start to adopt those attitudes. If your best friends are pessimists or always depressed, you’re setting yourself up to adopt those same feelings.

Surrounding yourself with positive people every day can help lift your spirits and make you a more positive, hopeful person. This is especially important when you’re working on healing a broken heart.

If everyone around you is a downer, they may try to help you heal but they’ll do it in a negative way. “He was probably cheating on you anyway.” “He was a loser.” “He was holding you back.”

Even though they mean these things to be helpful, all that negativity makes an impact. But positive people will offer suggestions and support in a different way.

“There’s something better waiting for you.” “Now you can do that thing you wanted to do but couldn’t.” “You have so much to offer someone else.” Support like that is just better for your overall mood than support springing from a negative outlook.

And positive people are just more hopeful in general, about everything. Instead of fretting about not doing well at something, they realize that failure is possible but choose to focus their energies on the hope of success. This is one of the key to success in life—believing that it’s possible.

By spending more time with hopeful, positive people when healing a broken heart, you can adopt those bright attitudes in every aspect of your life. Not only will the hope you’ll start to feel help your heart to heal, but you can see improvements in all of your relationships.

When you learn to look for the positive in every situation instead of dwelling on the negative, you’ll find that you’re more open to possibilities than ever before. You’ll start to expect good things, which paves the way for them to happen.

When healing a broken heart, not only can hope help it happen, it can help prepare you to enjoy a new relationship that’s bound to be better that the old one!

Christian Marriage Counseling Is It For You

June 22, 2010 by admin

Christian marriage counseling is an option that Christians have when their marriages are in trouble. But it may not be for everyone. A great deal has to do with how deeply religion figures into your life. In some situations, though, Christian marriage counseling can make a huge difference in your marriage.

Regular marriage counseling is certainly an option for anyone who is having problems in their marriage. This is a secular form of counseling that focuses on the way you treat each other in your marriage. While Christian marriage counseling also focuses on this, often there’s an emphasis on prayer and giving over your problems to God.

While this approach may work for some people, it certainly isn’t for everyone. And it’s not even right for every Christian. Much depends on both partners attitudes at God, church and religion in general.

Some Christians prefer to let God handle every problem and they spend lots of time praying. Others feel more that God answers prayer when you take action to try to fix the problems yourself. If a husband and wife have differing views on this issue, Christian marriage counseling could actually cause more problems.

If the counseling is faith-based and focused on action over prayer and waiting for a miracle, the prayer-centered partner might not feel good about it. If the counseling focuses on prayer rather than action, the more aggressive partner might feel it’s a waste of time.

And the last thing you want counseling to do is cause more problems. But if the approach is one that can be seen as divisive by either person, it could cause more problems than it solves.

You need to find out what kind of approach the Christian marriage counseling will take before you go. Or agree to go to once session and see what it’s like. But you should agree that if either of you find it offensive, condescending or going against your beliefs that you won’t go to a second session.

Sometimes this type of counseling uses edicts from the Old Testament of the Bible that essentially give the woman no rights. When counseling is of this type, essentially the blame for marriage problems falls on the woman. Some churches believe that the women should be as subservient as women were in Biblical times.

You would do well to find out if this is the church’s attitude. These groups feel that women should basically serve the man, and the man only fails if he doesn’t respect the woman and praise her for all her service and obedience.

If you get involved in this type of counseling, it should be little surprise that this could cause far more problems than it solves unless this is the attitude you both share. As with any type of counseling, it’s important that the approach is one you can get behind.

Also, with both secular and Christian counseling, it’s important that you feel comfortable with the counselor or the pastor who will be helping you.

Senior Citizen Dating Ideas For A First Date

June 17, 2010 by admin

Senior citizen dating is far more common today than it once was. When marriages lasted for life, there was less need for older people to go out on dates. There has also always been some sense of taboo about older people needing companionship and romance in the later years of their life. But, as boomers age and their marriages fall apart, these taboos are falling away as well.

Going out on a first date is daunting no matter what your age is. At 16, there is anxiety and awkwardness. At 30, there may be a sense of desperation to find and land a mate. But at 50, there are another set of issues.

For one thing, many people in this age group haven’t been on a date in a long time. They feel “out of practice.” This article will give you some tips on how to approach a first date for senior citizen dating.

First of all, plan where you are going to go carefully. Remember, you don’t have to commit to a full evening of events such as dinner and a movie. In fact, meeting for lunch or coffee may actually relieve some of the tension and first date jitters.

If you have a shared interest, it can be a good idea to plan a date around that. For instance, art lovers may enjoy a stroll around an art gallery or museum. You’ll find you have more to talk about when you have something in common.

Many people aren’t comfortable meeting someone alone on a first date. Let’s face it, there are a lot of psychos out there. A senior citizen dating someone for the first time should consider meeting in a public place and arriving separately. That way, if things just aren’t right, either one can choose to end the date quickly. As an extra precaution, always let a friend or family member know where you are going and who you are going with.

It can be hard to meet new people for senior citizens. They have busy lives and have been involved with the same organizations for a long time. Sometimes meeting new people means breaking out of the mold and doing something new. This can include joining new organizations or taking up a new hobby.

Another option for senior citizen dating is to go onto one of the dating sites for mature people. These sites specialize in creating matches among the older set. They work the same way as dating sites for the general population, but are marketed to the 50 plus crowd.

Love and romance doesn’t have to end as people age. Senior citizen dating is alive and well and we should all give a cheer for it.

Christian Dating Sites – What Does Your Future Hold

Have you been looking for the perfect man or woman to compliment your life and share your earthly journey with? Are you having difficulty finding that person? If you have not had much success on your own, you really should consider Christian dating sites.

What does your future hold? Do you see yourself enjoying a rich, rewarding life with someone who shares your faith in the Lord? If it is your goal to have such a blessing and you are ready to start sharing time and love with another person, it makes sense to employ the assistance of Christian dating sites.

What does your future hold? Are you worried that your perfect partner has been so well hidden that you will never find him or her? It does often seem as if it is impossible to find a lasting, loving relationship. Some of us search our whole lives, and we go out to singles’ bars (that is just a waste of time), look around at church on Sunday mornings, endure blind dates set up by well-meaning friends, and all the rest, but still our perfect match eludes us. Perhaps it is time to try Christian dating sites.

What does your future hold? Do you dream of falling in love and finding that one person with whom you were meant to share life? Christian dating sites can help you avoid the pitfalls that traditional dating can often present. Christian dating sites can help you find people with similar interests. If you want an outdoorsy type, Christian dating sites can help you find her. If you prefer a homebody who loves to make Italian food, Christian dating sites can help you find him. What does your future hold? Time spent alone and going out on blind date after blind date only to be disappointed yet again? You do not have to settle for that. Christian dating sites can help you find the perfect person for you.

Many people may not think that online dating is too great an idea; maybe you yourself have considered it but have thought it a little too “weird.” Well, technology has brought us a million more ads for things we don’t need, and no one fusses too much about that. Technology has brought us insane amounts of adult material that does nothing but harm individuals and society.

Technology has brought us a way to distance ourselves from the outside world by sitting alone in our bedrooms and living rooms and staring at a monitor. Technology has brought us online gossip about celebrities and places for teenagers to show pictures of themselves that show too much. Technology has brought us the ability to be reached by phone all day every day, even in church a lot of the times. Technology has brought kids a way to tune out the teacher and tune in the tunes with tiny earpieces and tiny MP3 music holders.

Isn’t it time that technology brought us what we really want and need – a special person to love? Of course it is. It is time. Christian dating sites: what does your future hold?

Should You Break Up And Get Back Together

June 2, 2010 by admin

A friend of mine recently broke up with her boyfriend, but started having second thoughts about the breakup. She asked me if I thought they could break up and get back together. I told her that I thought it depended on a few things:

You often hear people say that relationships take work, and that is true, to a point. The reality is that many of us close our eyes when entering into a relationship. We totally ignore all warning signs that this just isn’t going to work out, and we often cling to the sinking ship long after we should have jumped overboard.

A good relationship with someone you are compatible with will take work, but not as much as if you try to force something with someone you simply aren’t compatible with.

You can’t fit a square peg in a round hole and that’s what many people try to do with their relationships. They know deep inside that this person isn’t right for them but for some reason they feel the need to hold on tightly. Maybe it’s the fear of starting over or being alone, but in the long run you risk being miserable instead of being happy with the right person.

So to answer the question of getting back together after a breakup you have to be honest with yourself about the reason you broke up.

Most often when a couple breaks up it’s because things have gone so far that it’s difficult, or impossible, to fix. If you could identify a problem and fix it right away before the resentments and anger grows you’d have a better chance of saving the relationship .

Most people are in denial and don’t want to rock the boat so they ignore the small problems and before they know it those small problems have grown into huge problems, and by then it’s usually too late.

If you’ve broken up over small generally insignificant differences and you’re both mature enough and willing to openly discuss the issues then yes, by all means, get back together.

But if the problems have grown too big and the resentments have gone too deep then it’s probably best not to break up and get back together. Just learn from your mistakes and move on. As painful as this might be in the long run it will be less painful than staying in a bad relationship.
